Never. I started at 200 and have lost 49 lbs, but I still see the same old person looking back at me in the mirror. I'm hoping one day my mind will catch up and be able to wrap itself around the idea and fully realize that I am SO MUCH thinner. Is this a normal when someone has lost a large amount of weight?

No, It's not "normal", it even has it's own disorder name: Body Dysmorphia. It's when you look at yourself and see something other than what's there. That being said, a lot of people who have lost weight experience this. I think we've gotten so used to seeing ourselves one way that it's hard to see what's actually being presented in front of us.

I didn't really notice the changes in myself until I did a side by side photo and could actually see the results right in front of me, if you haven't tried it yet I suggest you do, you'll be surprised how it changes your perspective!

Yes this is normal. I still struggle with it some days although I am finding that there are days where I feel thin...so I think my mind might be catching up to the rest of me. I would never when I started this that the hardest part of the journey would be the learning not to see myself as the overweight girl. Hang in there things will change...I think it is hard because we just become accustomed to seeing ourselves in a certain way.

I agree with both crazy ans strageone. I'm just about at goal weight and still have days where I feellike I'm still 40 lbs. heavier and people, especiially at work, eep telling me "wow you're tiny". In my mind I keep thinking, "I am?" Tiny? Really? Why don't I see that. I sure as heck feel far from it. The other thing is the weight on the scale tells me I'm not tiny. To me tiny wold be about 10 - 15 lbs. lighter.
But anyway... I think we are our own worst enemies. We tend to see ourselves differently that the rest of the world and tend to be overly critical of ourselves, especially if we struggled with negative feelings and toughts related with weight in the firrst place.
I would do what Crazyanimallady suggested and do a side by side comaprison. It will open your eyes to the difference!

I started to really see changes in myself at about 40 lbs lost. I see it more in pictures than I do when I look in the mirror. Typically when I look in the mirror, I see myself naked out of the shower and I look much better clothed. Lol.

I went up to 165 after surgery. I gain all over so I don't really see it right away. It wasn't until I was down 20 lbs AND running almost every day again. Then the fat melted away and muscle replaced it again. Took probably 5 months.
