I am considering buying myself a mat for pilates as I hate putting my head down knowing other peoples sweaty feet have been there. Has anyone bought one they would recommend? I am also looking to start doing some pilates at home as I really enjoy it and would love to know of any dvds or books any of you use as a guide thanks in advance for any help!

Hi there. I play tennis for cardio and do Pilates for strength, flexibility and relaxation -- never taken a class so I'm probably not a good judge of strenuousness. I have an exercise mat from Sears that's dense foam and a bit sticky -- it was about $25 and it works fine. As for DVD's, I have several and also stream some from Amazon. If I'm in the mood for a more fast paced workout, I like Lara Hudson's 10-minute Solution workouts. More often I crave the relaxing type and sometimes add a 10 minute segment or two from Lara to one of my more relaxing sessions to supplement. One that I find kind of a balanced between effort and relaxation is Jonathan Urla's New York Style Pilates: Level 2 (I'd to get his Level 3).0
