Trying to lose 0.5/1 kg per week, any tips?

I'm trying to lose 1kg per week for an important occasion. I'm starting off with my calorie intake as 1200 calories, but could anyone let me know how much mins/hours I should spend working out each week?

I am currently 51 kg, aiming to reach a goal of about 40 kg over time, as I plan to continuously diet. I am 163 cm, and my BMR is 1,273 calories/day.
Also, are the calorie counters on MFP accurate? I know some of the food nutrition info is provided by MFP members, but if you look at different options of the same food, there is quite a difference in calories. What's the best way to find out an accurate option?

Also, does anyone have any tips for losing weight in general? I'm on a holiday right now, and it is really hard to stray way from delicious food. Any advice/tips will be good to keep me motivated and work towards my goal!

Go running. It is the most calorie-burn intensive thing you can do and a diet is much easier when you can eat almost what you want as a result of calorie-burning exercise.

Please dont starve. 1,200 calories a day. I just dont get it.
  • Haha, don't worry, I make sure to eat back at least half of the calories I burn.

so your around 5'3 and 112lbs but looking to be 88 lbs? (conversion for us Americans) That doesn't seem very smart to me. At your height/weight 2 lbs a week (1kg) is pretty hard to hit and if your hoping to keep any muscle mass that weight isn't realistic.. Unless those numbers are wrong...
