Question about Fitbit... HRM

Hi!

I have a Polar HRM but it just won't detect my heart rate anymore. I am wondering if a Fitbit would be better to track down my calories burned during my workouts or if I should just buy a better HRM. The workouts that I do are aerobics, dancing, and sometimes circuit training. I just want the more accurate way to calculate the calories burned during my workouts.

Thanks!!!

FitBit measures steps - not heart rate. It's more to track your all-day activity level. Or if your workouts are primarily step based but it is not a HRM.

I have a Fitbit and they don't monitor heart rate. I have a couple of friends who love their Basis B1's though. I'm have no idea how accurate they are. I would also contact Polar as maybe you just need to replace the battery in your current HRM. Good luck!

I own a Garmin Forerunner 405CX. It might have some functionalities you would not need (e.g. GPS), but the HR function is incredibly accurate. I don't know about that Polar device you got, but my watch uses a chest strap to monitor HR.

Also, the results are uploaded to Garmin Connect, and shows tons of stats (including calories burnt). I just love it :) I don't know how I would do without it! Perfect tool to get fit!

Needless to mention, it takes into account your gender, age and weight to calculate calories burnt.

The HRM for sure, but I doubt you need to buy a new one. If it's not the battery in the watch or the unit itself, you probably need a new band. You can get them for about $20.
