Question - Pedometer calories burned vs. eaten?

Hi everyone,
I have a Striiv pedometer. I use the actual pedometer, not the app that plugs into myfitnesspal since I don't carry my phone on me all day.
My question is how to I factor in my calories? For example, I get at least 10,000 steps a day and the Striiv tells me I've burned around 1400 calories for it usually. Do I count my activity level as sedentary and then add in the calories I've burned? Or do I just count myself as lightly active and not bother with exact calories burned?
And then what amount of those calories should I consume if I chose to? Maybe half of them?
This has been confusing for me and so maybe you can help. Thanks in advance!
Kathryn

1400 calories from 10,000 steps seems way excessive. Frankly I'd just use http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ and put yourself at lightly active and eat that.0

I agree. I see about 200-400 more calorie burned per day (per Fitbit) when I walk 10,000 vs. 2000-4000, which is around a 'no intentional exercise' day.0
