Question - Pedometer calories burned vs. eaten?

Hi everyone,
I have a Striiv pedometer. I use the actual pedometer, not the app that plugs into myfitnesspal since I don't carry my phone on me all day.

My question is how to I factor in my calories? For example, I get at least 10,000 steps a day and the Striiv tells me I've burned around 1400 calories for it usually. Do I count my activity level as sedentary and then add in the calories I've burned? Or do I just count myself as lightly active and not bother with exact calories burned?

And then what amount of those calories should I consume if I chose to? Maybe half of them?

This has been confusing for me and so maybe you can help. Thanks in advance!

Kathryn
