So I was digging for a "side dish" in the pantry and discovered the Happy Harvest can of creamed corn. It is 14.75 oz.. The nutritional info says a serving size is 1/2 cup, and that it has 3.5 servings (1.5 cups) - it most certainly does not!! I even tried 2 different measuring cups and both times came up with only 2, 1/2 cup servings (total of 1 cup - a teeny bit over). The calorie difference is fairly significant - 90 calories for 1/2 cup, but 315 calories for the whole can (160 for a 1/2 can). I looked up Great Value (comparable) nutritional info. - and it is the same size and servings - 3.5, 1/2 cup servings. What am I missing?? Has anyone else come across this?? I am completely confused (and frustrated as to how to calculate). Thanks!

It may be that when packaged, the food is less dense, but over time, as it settles, it condenses, resulting in less volume/less cups.

I'd do a scant half cup and log it as a half cup, there's not much you can do about it.

14.75 oz divided by 3.5 servings = 4.22 oz/serving. Do you have a scale? If so, measure out 4.22 oz and that is one 90-calorie serving.

It's odd that the contents settled that much, losing 1/3 of it's volume, but you've got to go by weight then to be accurate because the weight wouldn't change.

Could be a slight difference between metric & US cups?

I agree with Plexgut though, get some scales and go with the weight measurement

That is why I use a scale and weigh everything... that being said I don't have this problem because I eat the entire can at a setting lol.... but OP definitely get a food scale, if you don't already have one.... Best of Luck
