    Don't panic...there is nothing to panic about. 600 over, you're still most likely in a deficit position and at most maintenance. You have to remember that your calorie goal is NOT maintenance...it already includes a massive deficit for weight loss. You would have to consume 3500 over maintenance to gain even a pound of fat and even then, your body is very good at dealing with excess energy when it just happens on occasion.

    There is nothing to panic about here...move on.

    thanks so much for your replies !
    Thought I should address the questions about my seemingly worrying intake

    I use MFP to log the bad food I eat, because I decided if I logged everything I would get obsessive over it. Only logging the things I didn't need to eat makes me realise how much rubbish I do eat, which is why my limit is so low - it's the limit of "junk" food I will allow myself. Thanks, though, for worrying about me! I'm 24, and 5'9; my goal weight is 160lb.
