New to running and C25K

Hi all,
I started the C25K program a few months ago. I'm 50 years old, have a bad knee and I know I have some osteoarthritis in most of my joints. I use a knee brace for my knee. I've never been into running, never had the breath for it. I knew this would be a challenge, but I want to be healthy! I'm about 40 pounds overweight at this time.
I started week one and could barely jog 20 seconds at a time. Continued to do week 1 for 3 weeks until I felt comfortable with completing without feeling like I was dying. I went through week 2 two times before moving on. I just started week 3 and was quite surprised that I was able to run both 3 minutes sections! What a joyous feeling! I think I'll do this week two times as well, as week 4 is up to 5 minute session of jogging.
I have been very careful researching running to minimize the occurance of injuries. I researched running, gait, breathing and all. It really helped alot.
Here is the issue: I've noticed this last week that my hip joints are starting to feel pretty sore after each session. I'm worried now if I'm over doing it. I'm thinking that the longer jog sessions are putting more impact stress on my hip joints. I'm concerned now about further injury. I'm hoping though that with more weight loss, less stress on the joints.
Thoughts from people that are experienced with running and its issues. Thanks so much!!

Unfortunately, running does put a lot of stress of knees, hips and other joints. I suggest discussing with your doctor. Good luck!0
