Rest day?

What exactly are rest days? Is this only applicable to strength training? Or does the body need a rest from cardio as well?

I've been on the MFP program for one week and have alternated everyday between C25K (for cardio) and 30DS (for strength and cardio). I'm up this morning at 6 to do my 30DS day and I'm just not feeling it - I'm both sleepier than usual and just feel "tired". I don't know if this is laziness I need to push through or if my body is legitimately tired and needs a break.

I'm new to this all and I'm scared of both A) overdoing it to the point it is no longer fun and B) breaking my streak of daily exercise (don't want to lose my momentum and dedication as I have in other past weight loss attempts). Thoughts?

90% of the time, your sleepier and more tired feeling comes from a) not eating enough b) your body reacting to the new regime. Make sure you are eating enough and push through. Don't work out more than 6 days a week.

your boy needs a rest day from any kind of work out.

i take one / week, i usually push thru except if im really feeling weak- but thats usually cause i didnt eat enough.

make sure you eat enough (not some stupid 1200kcal) and push through. and tke a rest day once / week.

Thanks for the responses! I ended up working out today - instead of 30DS I found another Jillian video on YouTube and did that (gotta love ChromeCast) - just incase it was monotony/laziness. I'll definetely listen to my body and rest when it's tired and eat more if I'm legitimately hungry and not bored-hungry.
