I have the equipment! Now I need the workout!

So at home I have an elliptical which has been a lovely dust collector until about a month ago, and we have a power rack, bench, and olympic weights. Along with a few very girly and slightly embarrassing workout DVD's...I wont lie...one is yoga booty ballet. It was a gift! I swear!

I've lost a good bit to start but I want to build muscle and lose weight...not just lose weight. Does anyone have a program they love? Give me something good! Feel free to add me as well! =)

I love Focus T25 first program I have completed I tried Jillian michals 30 shred and didn't like doing the same routine for 10 days straight. May try it again and rotate the different levels. I also do a lot of Zumba and just dance on the Wii. Just dance is always with my kids and sometimes they will do some Zumba with me.

Edit to add I just started researching into a strength training program strong lifts 5x5 or the new weight lifting rules for woman. Since you have the equipment should look I toes those too. They do have groups on here for them

    Great home setup!

So the thing is that you won't really be able to gain muscle and lose weight at the same time. What you can do is lose weight (body fat) while doing a solid strength routine to retain your muscle.

Eat at a deficit and ensure you are getting enough protein (about 35% of your intake is a pretty good amount). It sounds like you are new to strength training so look at a beginner barbell program like Stronglifts 5x5, Starting Strength or the New Rules of Lifting for women.

    Good luck!

Thats what I was trying to say so thank you! I'm not especially concerned with the losing weight issue, as long as I'm getting healthy and gaining muscle. =) I am most definitely a beginner, my husband is helping me along with form, he recommended starting strength too so i think I'll give that one a go! Thank you!

bodybuilding.com has quite a few free programs that are very thorough. I like Jamie Eason's LiveFit program.

    ^This

Buy Starting Strength even if you chose to do one of the other programmes (or a different programme entirely) - it's a fantastic reference guide to the major lifts and something you can come back and consult time and again.

You have great equipment available to you, so a major compound lifting routine would put it to work nicely and build a great foundation to take you forward.

    Get stuck in!
