MAINTAINING WEIGHT BUT GETTING SMALLER?!

Hi everyone!!
Just had a look at my weight progress, and it seems to me i have fluctuated around the same weight for a long time now... about 5 months?
Although I have lost 17lb in total so far (22lb at one point), about 10lb of that came off very quickly in April and May when I first started MFP and exercising (can anyone explain why it slowed down?) and the rest just came off slowly but always staying around the same range now resulting in me maintaining my weight.
I am still coming down in size even though I am maintaining, I just feel like it will take forever to get to my ideal weight of 140lb. (currently 169lb ... started at 186lb.... I am 5 ft 6)
Can anyone give me some ideas on what I can do to start getting the numbers to come down again please?

If you're getting smaller and clothing is fitting better....why do you care what the number on the scale says? You're the only person who sees it...0

Be more accurate with your calorie counting. So get a food scale and start weighing foods if you aren't. Also, can you open our diary?
and I agree if you are getting more lean, why do you care about the weight?0 -
I know, it is just a number at the end of the day really, it's just I have my mind set on this goal weight that I want to be which is in a healthy BMI range. I just dont know why it has slowed down ever since my first couple months?0

this... who cares?0 -
ummm if you are not at your ideal weight, then why are you in maintenance?
Also, as you lose weight your body tends to want to hold on it to more and more..it is just a natural reaction…evolution and all that fun stuff.
Have you readjusted your calories since you lost?
what is your work out routine like?0 -

THIS! This is what I need to remember and stop obsessing. Oh, I've only lost 2 pounds... but the pants that were snug 2 weeks ago fell off of me yesterday.... why am I not making progress?!?! THAT is my scumbag brains whining mentality.0 -
By the way, your ideal weight is not gospel.
BMI is a good guideline but also criticised by many for being misleading.
According to MFP, my ideal weight is 12 stone, but if I lost any more weight (am at 12.5 stone), I would probably start to look way to skinny. I would like to maintain what I am at, or even bulk up a bit in the gym, which may push my up a pound or 2 anyway.
But to answer your question. Your weight loss has probably slowed down for the opposite reasons as to why it went down in the first place. It normally is that simple.0 -
BMI is rubbish …according to BMI I am obese with 12% body fat….bahahahahaha0

the Body Mass Index was developed over a hundred and fifty years ago. people have changed a lot since then. it doesn't take into consideration a lot of factors.
for me, i'd have to drop over 30 pounds to get into the normal range. but thats not my goal. i'd look emaciated, like one of those guys that wear skinny jeans. i don't want to wear skinny jeans.0 -
ndj1979 I am not in maintenance!! my weight is staying the same and not lowering.
my exercise:
body pump once a week and body attack twice a week. tonight will be my first class of metafit, so I guess I will be adding that to my weekly exercise if I like it.
Calories if I work out : 1200 cal
Calories if I do not workout : 1000cal - simply because I work at a desk alllll day long and I am very inactive these days. This is enough for me, I do not starve or feel hungry, if I was hungry I would eat.0 -

Yes maybe not the best thing to go by as I have heard it does not take muscle mass in to consideration... Hmm..0 -

do you weight/measure all your food? Not sure how you could be eating 1200 and 1000 and not losing…
sounds like you may not be accurately logging?
Either that or you have under eaten for so long that you have metabolism has adapted to the lower levels and slowed down…
how long have you been eating 1200 to 1000 for?0 -
looking at your profile pictures..are you sure you are 169…?0

Quite a while - sometimes it is more, sometimes a little less, just depends but average, that is what I eat
For my non workout days I eat:
Breakfast... A yoghurt (almost religiously, although at times I do forget..) Oh and my chocolate from my advent calendar of course!!!
Lunch... Soup/sandwich
Dinner... A LOT of carrot & turnip with chicken breast (almost religiously for the last couple months!)
On my workout days I will have a bigger lunch - like soup with bread. or the sandwich with some fruit! Maybe snack on some crackers but nothing major.
Hope I am doing that correctly??0 -

Yeh I sure am, my friends also say I don't look like I am 169 either ... most of my weight is carried around my bum and thighs though sadly!!0 -
Do you have a food scale and can you open your diary?0
