Boredom munching

I am at work, not feeling hungry, and due to the upcoming holidays, work is slow. The urge to mindlessly munch to have something to do is ridiculous today. I am wondering how others combat that urge.

Oh, I get this, too, It's my one diet downfall.
I usually try to do something with my hands when the urge strikes. Clear off a hotspot in the room (thank you, FlyLady!), do some pushups, go ride my stationary bike or grab my phone and play a game, anything to keep my hands busy so they can't mindlessly put food into my mouth. If I can't shake it, I usually measure out a single serving of dry breakfast cereal or something else semi-nutritious and low calorie and eat each piece one by one. It takes awhile and can't do too much damage to my calorie goal for the day.0 -
This time of year, I haven't been too successful, honestly. There is a ton of cookies/pies/treats in the office right now....it's hard to keep away sometimes!0

Bring fruits and veggies, drink water instead and leave your wallet at home so you cant buy anthing out of the vending machine.0

I plan snacks into my day and usually have two low calorie meals - around 300 calories and then about 300 calories or so in snacks and an average dinner. I like to eat and I like to snack so I just plan for it.
I portion dry cereal every single morning and always eat that - I usually eat Chex (Vanilla or Chocolate) or Peanut Butter Cheerios as both of these also satisfy my sweet tooth.
I also love cucumbers with hot sauce and the hot sauce will kill your craving to eat anything after it - tapatio brand is my fave!
I keep healthy snacks in the work fridge - yogurt, string cheese, cottage cheese etc and other low cal options in my drawer - rice cakes, fiber one brownies etc.
Sometimes I rely on hard candy.
I ALWAYS have water and coffee or tea at my desk too. I also try to get up every hour, even if just for five minutes, and walk around a little bit.
I guess I don't have many tactics to overcome it - more to plan for it lol
Editing to add that this post was useless in relevance to the posed question - sorry! i got carried away0 -
Thanks for all the suggestions. Most of what i see is to plan for it, so my goal for next week will be just that. Ensure I am planning accordingly for when attacks hit.
And trust me, the same thing is happening at our office...lots of holiday treats...very tempting.0
