Slim fast...? Good or bad!

Hi everyone! So in 2010 I went on slimfast and lost 2 stone (worked my *kitten* off at the gym 7 days a week also!) and loved it, I really got into it and found it easy, I stopped slimfast after 4 months and kept the weight off, kept going to the gym and ate healthy! It stayed off until I went backpacking and then in the last year I have gained 3 stone! This is from excessive drinking and eating and no exercise, I know the reasons!
I really really want to lose e weight within 6 months!! (I am stopped in a job for 6 months before further travelling) and considering slimfast again as I'm not seeing any results from healthy eating, yes I'm impatient!!
Just wanted to know people's views on it or any success stories from it.

I'm 5ft5 and weight 86kg at the moment! And I have a lot of belly fat that's depressing me! And if one more person asks me if I'm pregnant I may cry in there face!

I did the slimfast thing. As soon as i stopped drinking the shakes and went back to eating the same old way, i gained the weight back and more. I didn't learn a thing about what to eat/calorie counting/exercising. The shakes were a shortcut that allowed me to cut calories but didn't teach me to eat.

This I have heard a lot! As far as I know it is not even for sale anymore where I live, must be a good reason for that. I think those shakes are quite okay (still not a fan of it) when you want to lose 2 or 3 pounds quickly, but not on long term!

i gained 80 pounds eating primariliy "healthy" foods.

if you arent keeping track of your calories and are eating more than you need regardless of how "healthy" the food is, then you will gain weight.

and you lost weight on slimfast because you ate less calories than your body needed. you dont need slimfast to do that, just eat less.

It'll help you lose the weight but it's probably not sustainable enough to keep it off, if that makes sense. My guess would be that if you do SlimFast again, you'll get to where you want to be but you'll eventually be exactly where you are now again. Aside from that, though, I don't think there's any harm in it.

    You already knew this.

Losing weight is relatively easy. Keeping it off is more tricky - and at one point you need to learn to eat properly if you want to keep that weight off. The vast majority of people who lose weight crash dieting or using such products don't get to learn that lesson and put all the weight back on. MFP is a great system because it teaches you the calories in the foods you eat and how you need to adapt your lifestyle in order to fit your diet in.
I did slim fast a decade ago. Lost a huge amount in few weeks, put back double in half the time. Then I went to a nutritionist, got a proper diet, stuck with it, lost 40 pounds and kept most off to date.

Good: It won't kill you, and it helps you create a calorie deficit (which you c ould do with normal food, but some people find it easier to lose weight without having to make choices about what to eat)

Bad: It doesn't teach you anything about making healthy food choices, and therefore doesn't help you create a sustainable lifestyle that supports you being a healthy weight.

Obviously, it "worked" for you in the past, (because it helped you with the calorie deficit) but you then ran into trouble maintaining the weight loss. If you use slimfast now, how are you going to address that part this time? I'm not saying don't use it, but just be aware of what went wrong before and whether or not slimfast will help you when it comes to maintaining the weight loss.

Also, this is a key thing you probably need to work on. If you look at losing weight as something you have to do quickly, to get it over with before you go back to "normal", then you are going to struggle to keep it off.
