Work and Exercise help?

Hi all,

I am starting a new job in January, and whilst I was unemployed from summer till now, I was able to do TurboFire, and had some good results and only finished in November. I've started doing Jillian Michaels Banish Fat Boost Metabolism to have a break.

I dont wanna use my new job as an excuse to not work out, get lazy, and gain all the weight I had lost, I really like JM 30 day Shred, and ripped in 30 simply because of the time (cause its essentially a half hour HIIT work out), I mean they're only half hour work outs. I also really enjoyed TurboFire because unlike Jillian Michales, it changes every day, its always different, whereas in Jillian's workouts its the same for a week straight and can get a bit boring.

So i've been investigating and wanted ot know is P90X a short, but variable workout, or would T25 be a better option? If anyone has done T25 did you find it good if you work as well? did you still manage to lose a lot in 25 mins a day? x

so 30 mins a day might be too much but you can fit in 25 minutes?

I've never done P90X or T25, but wanted to comment on the JM workouts. You don't have to do each week's workout for a week. Change it up. I mix up JM with my other videos and a week might look like this:
    Mon - 30DS level 1
    Tues - 30DS level 2
    Wed - yoga or aerobics
    Thurs - RI 30 week 1
    Fri - RI 30 week 4
It doesn't matter what order you do it in. Changing it up and doing some different workouts in between keeps it from getting boring. Also, even if the other workouts are longer, you don't have to do the whole thing. Do half one day, half the next. Or, half in the morning, half in the evening. Using different weights also helps. Good luck.

I think she would like it to be varied so she doesn't get bored. Personally I joined a gym where I take various classes they offer every week for just that reason.

OP you can also mix things up on your own like running, bike riding, swimming, etc, than the Jillian stuff can be down to a few times a week. Hopefully you get some comments on P90 and T25. I've never used those.

If I remember correctly, some of the P90X workouts are quite long, and others are a bit shorter. I didn't try that particular work out series because I couldn't commit to the longer workouts, unfortunately.

That being said, I work full time, have 5 kids and still lost 30 lbs (OK the ticker shows 28 cuz I got a little lazy after my marathon in late Oct) and I work out nearly every day. I am fortunate that there is a gym in my office building that I can utilize on lunch. I can get a run in or do a shorter Jillian and/or Chalene Johnson video 5 days a week.

Don't let a new job derail your current efforts. You can make it happen!!

The key is consistent diet and exercise. Worry less about which one among very similar exercise programs you pick, and more about actually doing the one you choose.

Sounds like you're looking for an excuse to not workout.

You have to make it like an appt. you make an apt to go to the Dr. no matter how long it takes right?

Not being mean just honest. I have the same issue with my wife. She has too much to do, but if you're not healthy you won't be able to do it anyway.

P90X is longer than 30 minutes. Some are 40 and others are longer. T25 is literally 25 minute workouts. So if you're short on time go with T25. My husband and I have done both. And yes, T25 is a good workout.

Hate to edit, but I wanted to add.... any workout will work if you combine it with diet properly.

Thank you, probably the most helpful post here! :) But thanks to a few others for some of the idea's about jazzing up my workout schedule so I dont get bored.

I think I will try and mix up my JM work outs and probably invest in T25, as I know i wont have much time, and a 25-30 min work out is way better than no work out at all. I like the idea of T25 because it's all on a schedule, and i followed the schedule for TurboFire which i found really helped me to stay on track and keep motivated.

But I will create a plan for Jillians workouts, and also try T25! Thanks :) x

Don't use job as excuse.... Just keep doing the routines you like. they will definitely help you if you USE THEM.

Oh also, do you find them just as effective to mix them up when using programmes like this? x

Yes, especially when you've done them once or twice through, in order. It keeps it from getting stale and boring. I mix mine up all the time.

Some of the P90X workouts are 90 mins long I think. But there's a new one now - P90X3 where the workouts are 30 minutes long, have a look into that maybe?

You can also find loads of 'hybrid' calendars online to give you an idea of how to mix up various programs
