Keep Working On It or Stop

August 2012 I was 5'4" and weighed 271.2 pounds. I now weigh 123 pounds and would like to lose 3 more pounds. My family and friends are on my back about wanting to lose 3 more. Originally I wanted to lose 8-13 more but am trying to compromise with them and settled on 3. No one ever said a word to me about my weight or health when I was heavier, but now apparently it is the only topic of discussion. I feel fine, great even, and certainly better than when I was heavier. I can still see rolls of fat on my body, which they don't see because they are under my clothes. I have looked online and think my compromised goal weight is in a healthy range based on everything I have found. Should I stick to my guns and go for my compromised goal, go back to my original goal, or give in and stop where I am at?

    Thanks Sapporo. I am not telling anyone. They are watching what I eat and timing my workouts. I don't even need to log, they basically do it for me.

    To be honest, I have been 3 pounds from my goal for almost 2 years. 3 pounds is basically a fluctuation. If you are not happy with your body, could it be loose skin? Lack of muscle mass? These are things to consider. Over the last 2 years I've only lost about 3 pounds but went down 3 sizes due to body recomposition that I attribute to a progressive heavy lifting program. If you aren't strength training, it would probably be the next logical step for you to take to get the body you want.

    To be honest, I have been 3 pounds from my goal for almost 2 years. 3 pounds is basically a fluctuation. If you are not happy with your body, could it be loose skin? Lack of muscle mass? These are things to consider. Over the last 2 years I've only lost about 3 pounds but went down 3 sizes due to body recomposition that I attribute to a progressive heavy lifting program. If you aren't strength training, it would probably be the next logical step for you to take to get the body you want.

    You just say you are maintaining, it is common for people on maintenance to still drop a few pounds.
    Do what you really want to do, don't cave because some people around you want you a certain way. Some could want you to unravel and go back because they miss the old you, others might just be concerned you are too obsessive or something.
    You know there is no real reason why you should give up on your goal weight so keep going :)

    Whatever you do, make sure that all of your friends and family are completely happy at all times.

    That's the most important thing.

    If being your goal makes you feel successful then keep it otherwise switch goals maybe looking at running faster, lifting heavier, being able to do 20 pull ups. Find a fitness goal instead of a weight goal.

    In some ways, we will never see ourselves as clearly as other people can see us. It isn't possible to have rolls of fat at your height and weight, and it wouldn't be possible for rolls of fat to not be visible through clothing. What you're describing is loose skin, which is unavoidable with that large a loss. From what I've read, and at your age, it will tighten up over the next year or two. Depending on how much you have, it may or may not go away entirely. The best chance you have is if you start a heavy lifting program. Congratulations on your amazing accomplishment! :flowerforyou:
