How to lose weight without gaining muscle?!

Hi! So I currently weigh 138 and want to weigh 115ish. I know exercise is important to losing weight however I'm African American and it's extremely easy for me to gain muscle. I don't want thunder thigh track star legs. My concern with running is if I run hard I'll naturally gain this muscle. While that may be good for some I don't need anymore muscle in my thighs. Cheerleading gave me enough lol so any suggestions on how I should run?! At what pace, incline etc that's best for weight loss and not muscle gain.

Thanks!!

lift weights ..heavy weights.. you're not going to gain that much muscle if any at all if you're eating at a deficit that would be in violation of at least 2 laws of physics and if you were capable of doing that you would have already been flagged and flown to some lab somewhere before now.

what you might be mistaken for more muscle is being able to see definition. that's more a factor of lower body fat percentage.

If you're eating at a calorie deficit to lose weight, you aren't going to gain muscle.
  • What does being African American have to do with gaining muscle more quickly or easily?

Genetics vary from person to person, and while it's true that there is genetic variance between sets of peoples, I'm fairly sure that this statement from the OP has been soundly disproven by the scientific community.

Of course, I mean no disrespect, and if I'm wrong please share some studies.

As to an answer...if you're eating at a calorie deficit, it's extraordinarily difficult to gain much muscle. Your lean muscle mass is one of the first things your body will begin it 'eat away.'
