What are some good skin care products for prevention?

I have normal skin. Not oily, nor dry. I am 27 years old and I just want to take care of my skin. I want to develop a regime. I haven't even begun taking care of my skin. I do wear eye make up almost daily. I don't get acne or zits very often. I might get one a month if that. I'm not in the sun all day. I am normal girl. If that helps.

I personally love Clinique. It's not terribly expensive and works great for my skin. Clean and clear is also not too bad for the price and convenience.

Just get a foaming face wash to use daily, a moisturizing body wash, and then follow up with a good non-scented moisturizer. Lubriderm is good for the body, Spectrojel moisturizer is awesome for the face.

Edited to add: Yes, it is very very very important to get rid of makeup at night, but not for reasons you would suspect (ie. eye irritation.) Mites. They live in your eyelashes and if you don't wash your makeup off every night they multiply like crazy and can cause your eyelashes to fall out, your eyes can puff up and get all crusty. Yes I am being serious. No there is nothing you can do to get rid of them, everyone has them, but removing your makeup helps keep their numbers down.

Get a good makeup remover and thoroughly, but gently, remove your makeup every night. Other than that all you need is a good moisturizer for your skin type and a sunscreen. If you don't have any skin problems, you likely don't need more than that to look after and preserve your skin.

Doing weekly/bi-weekly exfoliation and clay masks can help improve the look of skins condition too.

As other posters have mentioned, remembering to remove your makeup each night is key. I have been using Garden Girl face moisturizer for a couple of years now and love it. It's all natural and is specifically made for sensitive or acne-prone skin. Specifically, I use "No Worries Anti Wrinkle Cream" just because I can feel it tightening the bags under my eyes haha. It keeps my skin moisturized without making it oily, and it tingles a little when it goes on and I can literally feel it tightening my skin. I use it each night after removing my makeup and washing my face.

Find someone who sells Rodan + Fields. It's expensive, but worth it.

I'd say if your skin is perfect, don't do much of anything. Just make sure to take off your makeup, and possibly get a lotion with sunscreen in it.

I love love love all the products in the Epionce line. I use the eye cream, facial moisturizing for rosacea, facial cleanser, body lotion, hand lotion....pretty much everything. I have rosacea and am prone to turning bright red with most products, but not Epionce. It has made my skin feel awesome and look awesome. Love it! It's a little on the pricey side, not bad, but most products average around $25-30. The eye cream is the most expensive product I've used by them, around $55, but it has made the dark circles under my eye disappear and I've been trying to find something that will do that for YEARS. So the price was worth it. I don't have any wrinkles in that area, so I can't speak to that specifically. It has healed the areas that had some scarring from acne as well. The body lotion has greatly minimized my stretch marks too. Love this product. I buy it on the lovelyskin.com website, but you can get it all over. I got samples from a dermatologists office originally to try out.

My skin sounds pretty much the same as yours, I hardly get spots and if I do its like once a month, I personally find that the less I do to my skin the better it looks...I have tried liz earle products and find that they were quite good so that would be a thing I would recommend their cleanse and polish is a simple routine and makes your skin feel great...
  • Mine's similar to yours...has some oily spots, some not at all. It's weird haah! I swear by Mary Kay facewash/moisturizer. It's about as much as Olay stuff...not too expensive and one bottle of each last about 2 months!! It has some anti-aging stuff in it so if you're starting to consider anti -aging stuff it's good for that too (I'm 25 and freaking out haha!). Their eye-makeup remover is AWESOME too. Both my sister and I use it and love it!

I have facial skin that can't decide between oily and dry. I really like the Aveeno products. I've used just about everything on the market at one point or another (including Rodan & Fields) because my skin used to be awful, but for me the Aveeno line seems to be the best for daily, long-term use. They have a foaming cleanser and a facial scrub; I switch back and forth depending on how dirty my skin is (scrub after a workout or sweaty summer day, foaming cleanser to simply wash up before going to bed). They also have a night cream that I use as a winter moisturizer and a regular moisturizer that I use during the summer/when my skin is likely to be more oily.

Found a really nice cleaner from Julep that's been a saving grace in the winter when I tend to dry out a little. Would recommend them highly!

cetaphil soap to wash your face with, Witch Hazel as an astringent after washing your face and Suave Advanced Therapy Lotion as a moisturizer. If you are looking for a "line" of products tho, I would suggest Mary Kay. They have excellent skin care products, plus your consultant will probably deliver!

I love Vichy for moisturisers, face masks and eye creams and Dermologica for cleansers, scrubs and toners :)

Best prevention in my opinion is no tanning, no smoking and as everyone else said always take your makeup off before going to bed.

My mother swears by her marykay timewise stuff. She's 67 and people tell her that she looks only 50. Kind of expensive (cheaper than Olay though!) but she's been using it for years and has hardly a wrinkle. LOL I'm hoping I get her genes :D
