Hi my name is Vikki and I live in the greatest country in the world. I have struggled forever (well 50 years plus) with my weight and always end up at the same place. Not being good enough!!! I am going to a dietitian and mentally trying to get over myself. I am a compulsive eater and find that by planning and writing down what I eat and exercise I can control it, but I really need to keep telling myself that one bad food choice won't kill me completely.
My goal is to not only lose weight but also to accept myself. I love biking but my weight is making it very hard to get up hills. I have lost 6 kg in the last 8 weeks, and although this is good have a long way (30kg) to go
Are there any other compulsive eaters outthere.

I am not a compulsive eater but I think most of us feel wht are you going through. One bad meal/ Thing wont Kill you and if you fall off the band wagon for that one meal it wont undo all your hard work. I ha ve been at this for 2 months and even though I have swopped my Crisps for snack a jacks and cut out the chocolate I love these are my choices. If I fancy a burger and chips that is what I shall have!!! The first time I did this I felt like a failure and thought i may as well give up on the diet. But I logged onto this site logged the burger and chips and worked out if I did a hour of exercise I could have just what I wanted because it would fit into my calorie count. This website is exalant and i find if I am down, depressed or thinking of climbing off the losing weight bus I read the success stories I look at all the pictures sometime I even write about how I am feeling and get emotional support off people who know your pain. Use this site to its advantage and think like me one day I will be one of those success Stories with Pictures....0

I am the opposite to you. I am a non-eater, but when I do eat. I eat all the wrong things.
I haven't been doing calorie counting without exercise because it's raining in South Australia. And I like to make excuses, woe is me. ><
I just had the realisation that my signature on here says I have been on here for over a month, I haven't budged, I went down and back up and then back down again and the main problem, my lack of eating and lack of exercise.
It's a mental challenge as well just to change all those things about yourself, just to try and feel human "normal".
Good luck in your endeavours. This site does have some wonderful people on it, always some words of support, but only you can change the state of mind and do what you believe is right.0 -
I am a very compulsive eater. I hate it. I find myself eating and I dont even remember getting the snacks. I really go for salty foods. I tend to eat chips, pretzels, popcorn etc. I drive alot for work and find that I eat the most when in my car. I have literally bought a bag of goodies and ate for hours. Just because I think I was alone and maybe lonely. I have no idea why. I also eat alot of snacks when my husband is not home He would freak if he saw how much. It is very difficult for me to go off program at all. I find when I do I say oh that didnt hurt me today then the next day I will eat double just because I can. I am a very habbitual person. Once I get going I can go strong and not be compulsive for about three weeks then I typically do the celebration of oooh I lost 10 lbs etc then I buy a snack to celebrate bad move lol. Then I go down hill from there it triggers something in me and I just start to binge again. You are not alone.0

I am such a compulsive eater as well. I find myself with a big bag of chips to snack on while watching tv.. then before I know it, they have vanished! I actually haven't done that for about a month now. I try to be attentive to what I am eating and only eat if I am actually hungry. When I snack without portioning out my food, I'm just a zombie and eat like I breathe, just without thinking.
Congrats on your weight loss. It's the first step of heading in the right direction. I think you'll find this site helpful for controlling your eating. Just make a habit of logging everything you eat.. log in the amount of food you might eat during your compulsion sessions. I did earlier on and it made me double think about what I was putting in my mouth.0
