possible to gain 4 pounds in 2 days!?

Normally I don't worry about this too much when I fluctuate a bit. But 4 lbs in two days?!?! I mean I did eat a bit much on Saturday but Sunday I was fine, except I ate a bit later than usual.

Could it be salt ...causing water retention???

Plus (shark week)

Yes, you can gain 4 pounds (or more) over two days. The good news is that it's almost certainly water weight (unless you ate about 14,000 calories over your TDEE). Extra food, extra sodium, extra salt, plus women tend to hold onto a few extra pounds of water around that TOM. Track it and forget about it. It should disappear in a few days.

Absolutely possible. And you are most likely correct about the sodium and water retention...I used to work in the elder care field, and we would have individuals we had to weight daily due to heart disease...they would fluxuate between 3 and 5 pounds a day depending on what they had eaten...anything with high sodium content would cause their weight to go up.

Keep up your hydration level and try to keep your sodium within healthy ranges, which I know can be hard this time of year. Like diannethegeek said you would have had to be waaaaaay over your calories for it to be something else.

Definitely! But it's not fat, it's mostly, if not completely, water weight. I'm in the exact same situation (shark week and a bit of indulgence this weekend) and was also up 4 pounds this morning. No worries, I'm sure it'll be gone in a few days once I up the water intake a bit and get some good workouts in.

I ate 3500 calories of carbs and salt yesterday and "gained" four pounds overnight. Mathematically speaking, I should only have gained 0.25 pounds. So the remaining 3.75 pounds must be water. I imagine you are in the same boat.
