I alos took Chantix.. I only took it for 3 weeks tho as it caused some side effects! But happy to announce Im a quitter of 2 years and running! If you want it really bad you can do it! I chewed a lot of gum, changed all my smoking routines and started walking... ALOT! Also even though they are horrible, the first 2 weeks without the Chantix, I chewed spitz it totally curbed my cravings. But drink a ton of water too... helps flush out the toxins! You can do it!! :0)

I quite on Sept 25, 2012. For me it was about harm reduction first and becoming independent second. I quite using the e-cig. I carefully laid out a plan to quit which had me reducing my dosage of nicotine little by little. It took me about 9 months to go from max strength to zero nicotine. I continued to use my e-cig even at zero nicotine but put that behind me as well on Sept 25, 2013...my one year anniversary.

I've tried a million different things over the years and this is the only thing that worked for me. If you do the e-cig just make sure you lay out a plan and stick to it in RE to when you're going to dose down, etc...also a plan for no longer using the e-cig. It causes far less harm that an actual cigarette, but being completely independent is the way to go IMHO....

Go to whyquit.com. Devour all of the articles and videos. Take it all in, and take it seriously. It's all about getting into the right headspace to quit, and educating you on what the nicotine is actually doing to you, and how to combat those urges - and I'm not just talking about showing you pictures of lungs, or reading about someone who died of emphysema. The main point of the site is that the only real way to quit is to quit cold turkey - and it present statistics as to prove that cold turkey is the most successful way to quit.

I used it to quit cold turkey after a 20-year pack-a-day habit two years ago, and I don't see myself ever starting up (or having "just one more smoke") ever again.
