maintenance level worry?

I've found that for the past two weeks or so I have been okay with going up to my maintenance level ( I usually freak out going to 1600, which is my maintenance level) but apart of me is worried. If I'm okay with going up to that will I be okay going higher...I've been eating 1300-1400 calories everyday for a few years but perhaps I was miscounting and have always gone to 1600? I eat pretty healthy but I'm worried about myself. How sad is that right?

Hi Anne,
I read in your profile where you lost 130 pounds when you were a teen. Congratulations, and what an awesome feat!
Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but I get the impression you have been maintaining your weight all this time. Do you log your food and exercise? Or, have you just been playing it by ear, so to speak? The only way to find out if you've been miscounting is to log all food and exercise.
I guess my advice is if it isn't broken don't try and fix it. If you've been maintaining this long then you are certainly doing something right.0 -
Oh, Anne - congratulations on getting up to 1600 calories, that is so awesome!!!!
It's normal to be a little nervous when you start going up - change is kind of scary. But you've done the hardest part already! My suggestion is, why don't you try staying at 1600 for a month or two and see how you handle it? Even if you overeat sometimes, you're not going to regain a whole bunch of weight in just a month or two - maybe a little water/glycogen weight, but not actual fat. If you set yourself a date on the calendar when you'll take a look back at your averages and see how you're doing, that should help you stick to the 1600 in the meantime. And then you can decide whether you're logging your food accurately, how it's making you feel, and how it's affecting your weight... and what you choose to do about it next.
The trick with maintenance is to make your changes small and give them enough time so you can really see what effect they have. You are always in control. You've done a great job and you're still doing a great job; I hope you'll trust yourself with this next phase.
Bravo!!0
