I meet with a personal trainer twice a week for an hour. I can't afford a HRM. I'm 41, 5'8, 175 lbs, female. With my trainer, we do squats (holding a weight), dead lifts, kettle bell swings, triceps, etc. She'll have me do something like this:

• 12 squats while holding a 10-lb weight
• 12-15 dead lifts holding a two 10-lb weights, then pull up into an overhead press
• 12-15 lat pull downs
• 12-15 backward lunges holding a handweight

(then I repeat this set of exercises four times)

Then we move on to something like kettle bell swings, triceps, etc. We rotate on those. Anyway, it's an hour. Not much rest in between sets. I don't feel like my heart rate gets really elevated (maybe during the kettle bell swings), and I sweat lightly.

Any estimates on what my calorie burn might be? She thought it would be 300-400, but I think that's too high. If I walk briskly for an hour, I burn about 400 calories and that makes me feel much more wiped out/spent than an hour with her.

Any guesstimates?
