Hi Guys I am new to MFP but I thought I might share this with you. A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with congenital heart failure, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnoea and a few other niggly health problems.

I had reached nearly 24 stone and had to spend 29 days in hospital. Result was I still need to have open heart surgery to repair a faulty valve but the doctors won't even consider operating until i hit around 15 stone and then I guess it would be a couple of more stone until they got around to doing it.

I live in the UK and we have a company called Slimming world here that obviously specialises in weight loss. I joined my local group on 31st May 2013 weighing in at 23 stone 7lbs. The beauty of SW for most people is they have a system similar to Weight watchers where member don't count calories they count points. This simplifies things for the average members and I have seen some terrific weight losses.

It has always been in the back of my mind since joining SW to make a mental note of my calorie and fat consumption as well as counting the usual Slimming world Syns.

I have now started to watch both, I want to stay true to my SW goals but know exactly what I am consuming and MFP seems absolutely brilliant for this. I have added a few items to the Database but in truth almost all of the foods I consume are already in there thanks to a lot of you guys.

I am just over halfway through my weight loss now. starting weight 329lb and today (29 weeks later) I weigh 226lb, a loss of 7 and a half stone. I linked a collage of my progress as my profile picture.

Hope to read some of your fascinating journeys in the future :-)
