Workout DVD's & success stories on them.. HELP!

Hello & Merry christmas everyone! Hope everyone had a great day!!

Anyways, my question is, i'm looking to get ride of some weight, and toning my whole body down.

I was told fitness DVD's work really well, for a student who can't afford to go to the gym, and who doesn't have much equipment as it is. (If anyone else has some great workout plans and/or idea's, i would LOVE to hear themm !! )

So I was just wondering from people who have tried them, and who have had success with them, which DVD's would be best for someone who has worked out before, but just has trouble staying on track, and keeping motivated. (Basically a beginner..)

I heard Leslie Sansone mile walk is good. anyone have good success with that?

The help and advice would be GREAT!

Thanks Everyonee ! :)

Don't forget about the wonderful and free world of youtube. Blogilates, Tone It Up, Sarah Fit, Zuska Light, and Spark People and many more are great ways to get in a variety of workouts without having to spend the cash. BeFit even has a few of the more popular ones like Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. But many of these channels will also have workout calendars that you can follow. You can either check on their sites or on google images. I really love Blogilates and have been doing her workouts for a few months now. But there are so many out there! Browse around if you're tight on cash but still want a great workout.

Oh and if you are set on buying a DVD program, I'm doing T25 right now and it's amazing. I've seen really fast results and with the modifier (Tania) it's easy grow with the program if you decide to do it a few times in a row. But even thought I'm doing the low impact (bad knee) I'm still dripping with sweat by the end of the workout. It's fun too. And quick. I imagine as a student you're short on time too!

I have some Leslie Sansone DVDs. Its a great cardio for beginners, but I do need to step it up once in a while to get my heart rate up. The steps are really easy to follow along.
I have also done 30 day shred by Jillian Michaels twice. I got better results the second time, but its still a great workout. 20 mins a day and you are done! I do have another one Banish Fat, Boost metabolism by Jllian Michaels. Its like 30 day shred but 45 continuous exercises.
Dennise Austin has a lot to choose from. I don't mind them but her voice can get to you. Biggest Loser DVD's are good too.

The only DVD I have tried is 30 Day Shred. I enjoyed it because it was short and combined strength and cardio. I lost 12 inches and about 5lbs in the 30 days. I thought that was awesome :)

Merry Christmas!! The best way to get rid of some weight is through calorie deficit. Stay consistent in your calorie goal and you will lose weight. Exercise is a excellent way to help you with your calorie deficit while also making you healthy and fit. Youtube has tons of free workouts. I love Leslie Sansone, Jessica Smith TV, Jillian Michaels (all have free workouts on youtube, Jessica has her own channel). Strength training is also super important!!!! Muscles burn calories!! If you can't afford dumbbells or weights....body weight training is amazing. Google and youtube....you'll find tons of ideas. Also if you read 'new rules of lifting for women' it has a lot of helpful info.

Additional free channels on youtube - BeFit and fitness blender.

Sometimes your local library will have workout DVDs to borrow as well!

I agree YouTube actually has some great workouts and best of all they are FREE :)

I don't go to the gym. I work out at home with Jillian Michaels' - Ripped in 30. I've done it for 8 months, now.

    This right here!

I do 30 day shred off and on, and usually within the 1st week I see a major change in my measurements and endurance. Weight change on the scale might not be noticeable at first when your body is adjusting, but don't let that get you down. Measure yourself before and after and you will totally see a difference in the way you feel, the way your clothes fit, and in the numbers! :)

It is hard at first, but the actual working out only lasts 27 minutes and that includes warm up and cool down. Good luck!

Weight loss happens through calorie deficit. Exercise, in and of itself, does not accomplish it. It is accomplished purely through correctly matching your calorie intake to your activity level. What exercise does for you is this:

    1. It stimulates muscle development/maintenance so that when you eventually DO reach a healthy weight range, you will have sufficient lean body mass to have a lean/toned/defined physique.

    2. It raises your calorie goals so that you can comfortably eat more while still losing weight.

    3. It addresses health concerns weight loss alone doesn't (cardiovascular fitness, etc)

    4. It boosts functional strength, speed, agility, flexibility, and endurance.

That being said, for video workouts, your best bet is to find one that includes both resistance training and cardio, but has a strong bias of resistance training before the cardio. Good examples of this are P90X (which I'm not a huge fan of), Supreme 90 Day Challenge (both require weights), Weider X-Factor ST (bodyweight only), and the Spartacus workout (which is free on youtube and only requires a few pairs of dumbbells). ChaLEAN Extreme is also very popular, but it revolves around doing exercises that require a lot of balance. If that isn't your strong suit, I'd try something else.

I do certain exercise videos often, and others collect dust on a shelf. This will be a personal thing for you. The library (and youtube) is a great idea....until you can sort it all out.

Leslie Sansone, Ellen Barrett, and Kelly Coffey Meyer are motivating instructors for me .... but I can't stand some other instructors. Re: Leslie Sansone DVDs you can up the intensity when you are ready.....you get out of it, what you put into it.

This website is a great resource

    collagevideo.com

You get video clips, reviews and a list of equipment requirements. The DVDs are rated for fitness level, choreography level, impact level, etc.
