Can resistance bands help lose fat?

For Christmas, I got A LOT of awesome stuff. The majority of it being fitness related dohickies :D I received a Polar FT60 HRM, a hoodie, and resistance bands. Now, I have a question about resistance bands. The kit I have is actually extremely similar to the TRX. It comes with a mount and everything. My sister got it for me on days when I want to strength train but I can't make it to the gym or whatever. I'm excited to have it but I was wondering if (paired with a deficit, of course), I'd see results from it. Obviously, I'll do my best to go to the gym. But in winter when it's icy and such or when I don't have a car to drive, would this be a good substitution?

This is what I have: http://www.blackmountainproducts.com/p-1-stackable-resistance-band-set.aspx

Diet to lose fat. Exercise to improve fitness (strength, endurance, cardiovascular, flexibility and balance).
  • They would be a fine substitution for resistance training on the days that you can't make it to the gym.

No. Calorie deficit helps lose fat.

Absolutely. Plus you can take them away with you on vacation if there's no gym access.

Your resistance bands won't help you lose fat all that efficiently. They will help you maintain or build muscle which does help with burning calories/fat, but unless you can find a workout with them similar to your kettlebell swings, don't expect them to do much in the fat burning department.
