I started my new healthy life in late July (I believe 7/27 or 7/28). Anyway, I really didn't know how far I would take it. I've never ever tried to lose weight before, but I knew I wanted to be healthy. The first goal I set for myself was 30lbs. I weighed 230.8 lbs when I started. It was probably the first time I stepped on a scale in several years and actually looked at the number. (At the doctors office I tell them not to say my weight out loud and then I look the other way). I was suprised by the number, but I was also surprised it didn't make me upset. I looked at it as an opportunity. The first goal I set was to lose 30lbs by the end of the year. I reached that goal the beginning of November. So, I set another goal--to make my loss 45lbs by the end of the year. With Thanksgiving and Christmas I really thought that goal would be a long shot. Today--I stepped on the scale and it was 185.6. I reached my altered end of the year goal one week early. I'm beyond thrilled. Like people have said--It wasn't easy, but it was simple. Eat less and move more. This forum and the friends I have made have helped me gain a healthy approach to life. My new goal is to lose 30lbs and go from "overweight" to "healthy". (Oh...by the way...I am now no longer in the "obese" category). I don't have a time frame. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing until I get there. Then I'm going to start a new journey--and the hardest one I'm told---MAINTAINING. I promise if I can do this, anyone can do this. Don't give up :)
