July '14 Bride on Optifast with PCOS

Hello to everyone....

I am new to MFP. I just started Optifast Lite today. I have PCOS, which has been causing me hell with losing weight. So my dr and nutritionist decided it was this or surgery. I am scared of surgery....so I am going to give this a whirl.

I had my shake for breakfast, I tried the Strawberry. I liked it, it had a similar flavor to milk after eating Special K Strawberry Cereal. I also drank 25 ounces of water. I am now onto my lunch shake, I am drinking and typing at the same time! I also filled my water bottle again and I am almost done with another 25 ounces of water. I switched it up and I am having the French Vanilla...again not bad! I am looking forward to my snack bar in a little bit!

I was wondering if there is anyone out there, that did Optifast with a Nutritionist? Did it work for you? What sort of results am I expected to see? They made things a little vague in terms of results, because I really think they were trying to push surgery. Any advice and tips would be welcomed.

Thanks!

Welcome! I am doing Optifast under close supervision with a Dr who also has given me much information about nutrition.

For the first 7 weeks I was on Optifast 800 (4 shakes and 1 bar) and now I have one meal + 2 shakes + 1 bar.

I am on week 14 and down 52lbs.

Everyone's metabolism and body composition is different but I am averaging 3lbs a week so far. I also walk 30 mins M-F and then 1 hour on Sat/Sun.

I am so glad I am on this plan!!!

Good luck and let us know how you are doing.
