I also love workout videos and lifting at home. Here are some of my reasons:

    - I can workout in the comfort of my own home anytime I want.

    - Don't have to worry about the weather.

    - I don't have to wait for equipment.

    - No cleanliness/hygiene worries. I'm the only one using my weights and equipment.

    - No unwanted attention while working out.

    - I can blast my own music as loud as I want.

    - I'm more motivated working out at home. In the past I would sign up for a gym membership and use it for about 2 months then I start to slack and eventually stop going so working out at home has been a better fit for me. :)
  • I also work out at home. Spent a long time on the couch complaining about not having the money for a trainer/gym/classes.... now I just rock it out in the living room for 30min-1hr.

    The Pros:
    COST EFFECTIVE!!!!
NO TRAFFIC NO PARKING :D win when living downtown.
    No waiting for machines
No need to shave before a workout <<< This is especially true when sweat irritates my skin.
    Time effective
    Endless variety of videos
No need to buy super cute workout clothes :D

    1. I have a certified personal trainer right there on the video probably getting me in better shape than most people at the gym.

    2. I'm not paying $40 $50 a month for a gym membership and if I hit a wall I just get another DVD program.

    3. I don't have to drive or share my weights bench etc with anyone. Or wait my turn which is good

    4. I can do it on my time schedule along with eating healthy.

    5. I get a food guide and calendar telling me what I should eat and when I should workout and what workout to do. With tweeks here and there.

    6. Chances are I will get in better shape than most at the gym.

    Pros:
    1. If you don't like the DVD, you can possibly return it or resell it. It might be harder to get your money back from the gym.
    2. There are several free, legit YouTube workouts to keep you busy for months.

I go to the gym about 2x a week, and run once or twice a week. The rest of the week I do DVDS upstairs in our gameroom.
    Pros-
I wear the oldest rattiest workout clothes
I don't brush my teeth or wash my face before I workout
If I have to pee in the middle of the workout I just pause it
    Saves on DRIVING time!
