    10th day today!

    *** Update! ***

I had one baileys coffee on New Years Eve, and no other cheats.

I have been eating allot of fruit, veggies, salads, fish, eggs, nuts, meat, wholegrains, beans, dairy (you get the picture). I didn't really had any major downs or anything apart from first few days when lets be honest, it was pretty crappy! I did take my own lunch and breakfast in work, this helped too.

One thing that really help us is getting slow cooker again, and making plan with my husband what are we eating when. It's big, and I put half of the cooked meal in the freezer. It's just not manageable to cook daily meals, when both of us work full time and I have to collect my son at 5:30 and help with his homework and spend some time with him! I didn't realise how much I miss it.

    The positives

Much better sleep. I love going to bed when I feel physically tired and happy, ready for sleep! It's great feeling thinking I am sooo tired, great sleep ahead of me! A big meal junky meal late at night after and/or drinks, bloated stomach and day on the couch & in the car just doesn't lead me to great night sleep!

Much better energy and mood. I have been walking allot outdoors, but ready to start new lifting program (giving strong curves a go) and get back to the gym!

My hunger levels are and healthy. I get hungry, eat, and feel satisfied without wanting more.

My stomach is back to normal, much happier. (no further details here! :))

No cravings really, but my diet was pretty good before so things as yummy mangos and watermelon or nice Moroccan spiced wholegrain rice & lentil meal or a big piece of salmon and veggies already excite me. It wasn't that big overhaul, just cut off the baddies.

I did cut off the added sugars (or sugar like substances, I couldn't care less where they originated, the processed sweet stuff!) last spring and it took me about 4 weeks to feel the benefit. So far, things are going much easier this time! It's amazing how the right fuel can change the way one feels and how quick the wrong can pull one down. If I eat junk, I feel junk is very real for me!

Thanks for all the supportive messages and words of encouragement! Feeling possitive

Do people count honey as "added sugar?" Not as an ingredient in processed foods, but a drizzle from a jar (preferably locally made!). I use a dab on oatmeal, greek yogurt fruit parfaits, apples, etc., and the 20 calories satisfies my sweet cravings. People obviously react differently to different foods (I personally cannot keep any packaged deserts at home), but just wondering if it sets some people off the sugar cliff ...

I would add it as a sweetener for meals (Asian recipes) in month or so, but for awhile as it's sooo super sweet I don't. I don't have a habit of eating it so it's not like that I am cutting it out in any way, we have it in the house for my son's oats. Part of the goal is to retrain my taste buds to not crave the sweetness but to enjoy the natural taste of foods. So if I add it to my natural yoghurt, I feel it will take over the taste and I do love natural yoghurt so no need.

I am no expert, but I would use in the same way as dry fruit - in moderation and as add on to something rather then by it's own.

I can't confirm about the sugar cliff, sorry as I wasn't eating it before and I haven't added it so I don't really know. Try few days and see how you feel? If you crave allot of sweetness in week cut it off. If you don't, keep it! Don't forget to come back and report!

Haters gonna hate, nothing I can do about it! It doesn't really bother me.

I did cut sugar last year and stayed off pretty much by the end of August, I felt great. I am not overweight, I eat allot of healthy foods already, I exercise, I lift - cutting crap isn't that big of a change for me!

New job, allot of socialising, eating out and not as much time to prepare food last few months have ring the alarm that I need to get myself back on track. Eating healthy isn't new for me at all!

What a crazy statement that I am setting myself for failure! Who do you think you are - expert on goals? My nutritionist, doctor or shrink? Some people are hilarious giving advice on others, when they really know nothing in for the person or the subject

Then why make a post at all if you have already done it?.. Quit your *****ing and take your pain killer... I'm on day two also and it's crap...total crap but it is what it is! Send a perc my way!

I am on day 10 (see update above) and I don't need any painkillers - but thanks for your input.
