Fitbit One - Calorie Estimator??

I just got a Fitbit One yesterday. Set it all up and am excited to start using it. I searched this forum as well as the web but couldnt really find an answer (at least not one I understood) to my question:

The Fitbit I guess assumes Im going to burn 2101 calories today. And I guess thats what Im supposed to be working towards. Im assuming Fitbit thinks 2101 is my maintenance? Or is that what it thinks I need to lose?

Also... If I shut off the Calorie Estimator, does that make it so just my steps/stairs/exercise will show in the calories burned? Not just upping my calories burned because of my BMR?
