Look at my profile picture. Does that look like it might take some muscle?

I did nothing sexual when I poled. I didn't find it sexy at all. I did it for the gymnastic appeal.

It's hard. I found it harder than CrossFit. I hurt myself a lot, too.

Haha I'm the total opposite of you! My pole studio has a lot of 'sexy' work ~ so my pole dancing has a very definite sensual and sexual appeal, and I love it! :D

I'm trying to do a combination of sexy and strong...I think that's what Pole Dancing does...it brings the two together.

That's how my studio is, it's a yoga/pole studio and we're a combination of physical fitness and embracing our sensuality. It's only women, no mirrors, shades are drawn, doors are locked, no photos or videos -- it's a place where we can feel free to express ourselves. Even though we're cheered on by the other women in class we're not "performing" for them, we freestyle and move in ways our bodies want us to move. We try to find the balance of sexy & strong, we don't want the sterility of being competitive pole. No one in class, nor any of the instructors, are in the competitive circuit or are exotic dancers by trade. We don't take on "stripper names" and aren't encouraged to go to "amateur night" for field trips. I love my pole studio, I feel free there. No matter what mood I'm in I can always express myself through my dance.

Not sure if this will work, but it doesn't matter your size, shape etc.....you can still feel good in your skin and burn calories at the same time!!

Is Pole dancing a legit workout that you can see returns from?

    OR

Is it just an excuse to let out your inner stripper ?

    ... Discuss

I have definitely seen returns from it. I've use pole dancing as my main form of exercise for the last year - I also do Yoga and have recently started to walk/jog regularly.

    Here's my Before/During/After photo -- I'd say there's definitely a physical change!

Pole dancing is amazing! Only downside I've found from it is that my dominant arm during pole - my right arm - the muscle mass is two times the amount in my left arm. Although I make people feel the difference when they question pole, they completely understand after that!!
  • Both lol! Have you seen professional competitive pole dancer's bodies? AMAZING bods! So jealous!

Are you training both sides equally? With me it's my left side that is dominant (which i think is weird because I'm right handed and do most everything with my right) but I still make sure to practice every move on both sides and will even do each move twice as much on my non-dominant side to try and train it better.

Burn calories installing damn pole properly>burn calories eating **** because pole not properly secured>
Burn more calories re installing pole >burn calories learning to hold self up
By arms alone> burn more dancing\seducing lover>burn more throughout the night..finally
So exhausted burn a ton waking up late for work the next morning
hauling *kitten* to make it in on time and taming wild beast sex all night hair.

So in short it is the inception of all excersises. ..so YES.Legit...bruises n all.

Oh, it's legit but, there is nothing remotely sexy about your first time out! Fun, great burn and incredible amount of strengh training and painful bruising. lol
