NSV - Christmas Day workouts - what's yours?

I was super stressed Christmas morning with a house full of guests coming over for dinner. It was our first time hosting, but our giant families make the holidays 1-2 weeks of flat out family time, which is awful for even the most moderate introvert (let alone those of us who totally get why becoming a hermit is appealing). I could have just lied down, cried, gotten extremely frustrated and a tiny bit passive aggressive. Instead, I grabbed the dog, pulled on my big girl yoga pants and went for run. I didn't track my food or the exercise, and even with my run I almost definitely went over in calories for the day (possibly even the week given that there have been so many dinners and glasses of wine), but I'm 100% ok with that. In previous years, I'd have gotten extremely frustrated and then waited for a week before telling my husband how much I hated the holidays.

Did anyone else find healthier ways to manage the holidays this year?

I did the same thing...went for a 45 minute run pm my treadmill....it is a much more effective way to manage stress for me.
  • I went for an hours walk Christmas Eve, did NOTHING on the actual day, 2 hours on 26th, and an hour yesterday and today.
It probably hasn't helped much calorie wise, but it makes me feel good. It's a great stress reliever.

Christmas Day, no exercise, took elderly father to dinner
    Day after, walk 3.5 miles
Day after that, ski telemark most of the day
    Today, walk/run 3.5 miles. Post-hole in 2 feet of snow 20 minutes
Tomorrow, ski most of the day.

My son is exercising right now by jumping off the deck into the snow (3 ft deck), then running around like a crazy person in the snow. I wish I had his enthusiasm! :)

Logged everything I ate but didn't worry about how much I went over. I have been slowly rehabbing my knee since surgery on the 11th so exercise has not been strenuous but has been steady.

i ran four miles on christmas day …the rest of the week I did my regular workouts and tried to eat at maintenance and hit my macros….which I did not on xmas eve and xmas day ..but no big deal….

two days out of 365 are not going to kill you ….
