I've been living life as a vegan for approx the last 1.5 years. Well -- lets be honest -- I would say I could say for sure FLEXITARIAN -- meaning that I would stick to the Vegan life during the week and then my mind would convince me most weekends that it would be kewl to just indulge in a bit of hamburgers / french fries / meat of some sort ... but then I would get right back on on Monday AM.
NOW, I have lost a bit of weight but not what I have read could be possible ... I know and take responsibility for this ... but NOW I'm looking for fellow Vegans ... who are doing this to lose weight and for other health benefits as well (heart / diabetes etc)
Lets be friends -- encourage each other and see some positive results going forward .... losing weight , exercising more, and getting generally more healthy.
I'm 58 , running about 290 right now (I was 340) ... I love music, I love to cook and cook all of the meals here at my home (my wife never ever liked cooking) .... she has no desire to change her life style which is very sedentary and she is gaining weight rapidly ... I know its not healthy for her but until I get my own act together I can't say much can I. She still eats meat every day and refuses to even consider Veganism as a life style.
So .... whose with me ? .... Lets make it happen ... we can share recipes , ideas , exercise tips ....
Looking forward to hearing from you out there !!!! .... YUP ... I'm talkin to YOU !!!!!

Yeah. I find that kind of weird. You're either a vegan, or you aren't.0 -
im a vegetarian, i tried vegan, but failed, but i get my eggs from a local hutterites, so no no factory farm eggs, and I limit my dairy intake, but I do it because im against how the animals are treated and wont take part in that, not for weight loss, but most my meals can be easily altered into vegan, feel free to add me0

I realize that I didn't do a good job .... If you read the book SKINNY B*****D ... by the same gals who wrote Skinny B*****s ... they talk about people who are Flexitarian ... or who don't make that 100% committment to Vegan lifestyle ... thats where I fit in last year ... I've made the switch earlier this week ... actually before christmas to a 100% Vegan lifestyle ....This I'm told and from what I have read is more than normal .... many people transition thru .... I realize that making the commitment is the only way to be successful and to stay strong .... I'm going to make it !!!!0

I do respect you for realizing it is a transition. Some people do not take this into consideration, hit the road running, fail and never try it again.
I was a vegetarian for 2 years, and then a vegan for 2 years, even a vegan Chef. Unfortunately, I had to stop because of interfering health conditions. Now I eat the COMPLETE opposite of vegan
Although I could not be supportive in the sense of currently sharing your vegan lifestyle, you're welcome to add me as a friend, as I've been there before. I could hold you accountable if I see a hamburger in that diary!
If you don't wish to add me, my best recommendation is, remember being a Vegan is a LIFESTYLE change, not a diet. This includes, soaps, clothes, shoes, chap stick, makeup ;-P, medicine, full on commitment (until you do all, you are just a VERY strict vegetarian). I say this, because sadly...as it is, titles in the world of animal and world advocacy, if you say you are one thing, and act another, you won't have many people supporting you. It is very much like politics. But, if you are acting like what you are saying you are, the support within the community will pour in. (please don't shoot the messenger). I'd also recommend looking for Vegan/Vegetarian cafe's, as this is a great way to meet people...and trust me, vegans and vegetarians love promoting their lifestyle, so if you can find a "watering hole", you'll find a team. But that's why you made this post, so you're already on your way! ;-)0
