Soooo wondering from a perspective of concern for health and desire to keep blood sugar levels in check:

Is @ 80-100 grams of carbs from just lots(!!) of leafy greens/vegetables some berries plain greek yogurt no sugar added teas/coffee dairy ok for above concerns?
My average for protein is usually @ 20 grams above whatever days number of carbs was.

Ooooh how I love those greens, and other sources of nutrients but also carbs listed above!
What is Your average from healthy sources that are not grains?

Questioning my intake because:
Feel like blood sugar levels could be kept I'm check better if reduced quantity of other stuff (though dont want to taste wise at all)
Eating all that produce is expensive

So.....yeah. Hmmm=
Would be very very grateful for your feedback shared experience knowledge on the subject etc all that good stuff.

Mutiliplicity of thanks and gratitude!!

Dairy shouldn't be an issue. Greek yogurt has far more protein than carbs, so it shouldn't cause a problem with blood sugar. A lot of carbs from vegetables is not a bad thing. They'll lower the overall glycemic index of the food you're eating. As long as you're not eating something like corn or peas or potatoes by themselves, your blood sugar shouldn't have any trouble.

I'm not diabetic, so I'm not at all concerned with the amount of carbs I eat, and nobody else without a specific health concern like that really *needs* to be either. For that reason, I can't really answer your question, because I don't count carbs anymore.

You've said that your body likes the greens, so eat them. It may be expensive, but so is everything else that isn't grains really (which I also have nothing against!). What do you propose to eat in place of the "extra" (because you're still going to get your five a day, right?) vegetables?

As Fullsterkur woman has said, unless you are diabetic, blood sugar levels, and the glycemic index, isn't really an issue. It's been blown way out of proportion by magazines and TV shows and even the experts who should know better based on the current science. The GI on a food changes when it is consumed with another food. Rice is something like 70 on the GI but when eaten with something else, ie a source of protein of fat, the GI will change by a large amount. If however you are diabetic then I would suggest you follow the guidelines from your specialist and avoid consuming a carbohydrate on its own.

That said, I eat plenty of vegetables. They're frozen mind you, but frozen veggies are virtually the same in terms of nutrients. It's just the texture that's different and of course a real chef in a restaurant wouldn't use frozen veggies except peas (that's what Gordon Ramsay says anyway hehe). But if you want to cut down on your expenses, buy frozen. I can get 1kg of mixed veggies for £0.75-1.50 which is about $0.82-1.60 according to Google.

My main question however would be to ask what is your problem with rice, oats, pasta, potatoes and so on?

I'm a new type 2 so lower carb is my new normal. I'm allowed no more than 45 carbs per meal (so 135 per day). Your 80-200g should be just fine. As already mentioned, always have a protein with your carbs and it lessens the blood sugar spikes.
