Every day is a success

Hi All,

Brand new to MFP, and pretty new to healthy eating, so I am learning both right now. (can't quite figure out how to hook my phone entries up to my profile yet - think I messed up by creating an account with different info than my app - oh well. )

I became aware of my high blood pressure in September of this year. I always thought I was fat but I really became fat within the last 17 years. I really thought there wasn't anything *I* could really do about that. I figured I was just meant to be fat.

Weight loss was not even my goal when I began to eat healthy. I just didn't want to die of a heart attack or start taking medication for life, over my own stupidity. But a funny thing happened when I started eating right... I started losing weight!

I have never been motivated enough to take the first step, but fear is a great motivator. I'm 3 months in to this new way of living and I think all I needed was that one little light bulb to come on to start seeing myself as someone who could be healthy person. I'll never be able to live in the dark again.

So, to me, every day that I drive passed a McDonald's in favor of something fresh and home-cooked, and every day that I choose water all day instead of soda, and every day that I choose to move myself, and every day that this change doesn't feel like hell is a success unlike any that I have ever had. I am breaking my own records everyday.

I didn't have a weight goal until I started losing weight, but now I do and I am just about half-way there. Success!

Hm. I added the pic to my profile.

Thank you for posting. I truly enjoyed reading about how a simple lifestyle change really made a difference. As I was reading.. I thought... It takes me 30 minutes to go to McDonalds and bring it home. I can cook a healthy meal in less time than that and by golly, it will taste better.

If you need any help with set up, let me know,.
