Belly fat time

How long did it take to see a dramatic reduction in belly fat?

I'm eating at a deficit most days except the last 3 but am going to my routine today. I've started incorporating strength training recently which has made my body ache..

The belly fat is the only part I really hate and would like to get rid of it

Well, since where you lose body fat from is genetic, no one will be able to tell you how long that will take. Keep eating at a moderate deficit and continue strength training and in time, you will see results. Belly fat is generally the last place people lose, so just be patient. :)

If you are consistent you start seeing changes within weeks however however eating at deficit with exceptions is not being consistent. You cannot target fat loss in specific areas and indeed the belly is probably one of the last places where you burn all!

I have started seeing slightly changes but very slowly. I haven't eaten 'bad' this christmas holidays until Friday when we had a few days we had to go out and even then I tried to keep it to a minimum.

Totally depends on the individual. I lost my belly fat rapidly, but my mom, for example, has very stubborn belly fat. You'll just have to lose weight and find out what's going to happen for you.

Also depends how much weight you have to lose all together?

Took 30+ pounds for me and I still have at least 10 to go before my tummy will be near to where it should be.
I'm 5' tall and started at 162 and I'm now 126ish. A good deal of my excess weight was around my tummy but if you lose weight at all, SOME will come off your tummy.

Lose enough and *all* excess will come off no matter where (b00bies, butt etc.),,,be careful what you wish for

We tend to gain weight where it's noticeable from the core out to extremities, and lose from the extremities to the core. So our bellies are often the last place we'll notice improvement. But keep on working out & it'll come. One thing that can help a lot, to make you LOOK thinner while you're losing, and strengthen the muscles that hold our belly in, is to just pull your stomach in as hard as you can at all times. Tie a string to your watch, or put a rubber band on your wrist, to remind you to keep doing it throughout the day. At first, it'll make you sore, maybe even make your back hurt, but it'll keep getting easier, & you'll see results quicker. And just look in the mirror & compare not pulling it in vs. pulling it in & standing up straight, you can see it makes you look about 10 lbs lighter when you stand straight & pull it in. All the best in your efforts.

That I have no idea. I'm 142lbs now, lost 19lbs so far. Right now my arms and thighs are the biggest changes seen and now I have belly fat. My face also goes a bit big if I eat things like chocolate, crisps etc.

I'll probably need to up my exercise routine if anything and see how it works. Strength training has made a bit sore so had to take a few days off!

That sounds like an allergic reaction?

Don't think it is, it's whenever I eat junk food for a while it shows in my face or maybe I gain and my face is the first place it comes. It's weird but my face fat hasn't gone down as it used to before.

You can't pick where you lose fat from first. Just keep at it and you'll see changes. Consistency is key.

    good luck =)

Forgot to say thanks to everyone who took their time to reply :)

Is doing cardio and strength training x3 per week enough to see a difference whilst eating at a deficit over a long period of time? I'm busy with university work amongst other things so even this is a high priority, it's not my highest.

It will take you a long long time to see the difference. Measure yourself weekly and in 3-4 months you will probably see a reduction in inches as long as you are consistent and honest. Everyone loses fat at a different place and rate. The first place I shrunk was in my boobs :(

I would make 2 of the cardio sessions a HIIT session. I'm a university student too and am making steady progress lifting heavy and varying the type of cardio i do

Yeah I think so too, just don't see it happening in a few weeks or whatever. I'll be happy as long as I progress. Alright thanks guys, I'm going to focus on the workouts, continue eating right and doing everything as I do, measure weekly and most importantly, wait.
