    Well the meaning of life is 42... so I'm going with that.

    I was going to start with that, but didn't want to include spoilers in the first post.

    The purpose of life for all creatures is to make babies and make sure they survive.

    Because humans have knowledge of our own mortality, we have additional purposes beyond making babies.

    I would love to know what middle palaeolithic peoples believed the purpose of life was. They seem to have had an awareness of their own mortality. And they had enough cranial capacity to lie awake wondering about these kinds of questions....
