Powder, Pills, and Diets -- OH MY!

Hey there, everybody, and happy New Year!
I have been reading up on a lot of health-type stuff (Better eating habits, places to squeeze in some exercise, you get the idea!) and I have been finding a lot of people using weight loss pills from these "health stores" and lots more seem to be crash dieting. Anyone heard of that Isagenix? I am suspicious.
I have always been told by my doctor to not try crash dieting (Cut out ALL fat or ALL carbs for example) or to take pills that make you lose weight. Why do people still do this if it's known to be unhealthy?
Also, who does use protein powder, and which do you like to use? I find I don't get enough protein during the day, so I would like to add more without more meat (I am trying to ease up on my meat intake).

I don't think there's as much discussion on MFP about diet pills as there might be on other forums, so you're in good company. We live in an age of instant gratification and many people search for the quick or easy way out solution for their problems, but the reality is that anything worth having isn't going to come easily. There are many people who eat and log honestly and practice portion control on here that achieve fantastic results. Ultimately what will help you achieve your goals is finding out a way to make a life long change to create a healthier you.
I incorporated protein powder because I exercise and weight train every day and needed to up my protein intake to help with a variety of things such as quicker muscle recovery, appetite supressant, and sometimes an extra 40g of protein really helps you achieve consuming your nutrients without having to really eat them. It gets tiresome to eat large amounts of protein in my opinion. You can bake with protein powder, make cookies, pancakes, whatever you want. Your options are limitless. There are many different kinds on the market, I recommend doing some research to find what sounds appealing to you, or look for a store that offers them for sale in sample packets. Just try a bunch and see what you like.0 -
Isagenix is just another useless MLM company.
