I'm getting totally fit and I hurt my knee. Yes from over training I'm sure..it's easy to do...squat wrong , hike too many miles...falling on my boot laces at the trail head who knows. My diet must be tight during this period. I can do other workout including water walking , yoga ...just stinks!

Don't overlook your recovery and rehabilitation period either. I don't know what kind or the extent of your knee injury, but when I sprained my knee before, exercising in a pool really helped me get my confidence back when it was ready. Good luck.0

yep it sure does,
dont let it get you down though. just focus on healing and recovering and make sure to use better form when it's time to continue.
last september/october i reawakened an old shoulder injury by trying to complete 100 pushups in 10 minutes. i should have stopped at 80 when i new my form was getting bad, but i still had 2 minutes left and wanted to reach that 100. those last 20 were painful and i was dumb enough to continue. i completed it in the time, but i also had to be in sling for a 5 days and had to work weeks on mobility to be able to lift my arm above my shoulder. and even now i'm just now rebuilding my strength back up to where it was a year ago.0 -
Have you gotten it checked out by a doctor?
You REALLY should do that- knee injuries can be a ton of different things and correctly diagnosing it will help you rehabilitate it properly and prevent re-injury.
For example, what I thought was a knee injury turned out to be an Iliotibial Band injury- it felt like bad knee pain!0 -

Yup totally - I just assumed you saw a doctor. Do not take joint injuries lightly!0 -
I hear ya! My hip flexor locked up from overuse last night. And I've been doing this for years! Luckily it seems like it's well on its way to recovery and probably just forced me into a few days of much needed rest. Still sucks tho.
Hope your knee gets better soon!0 -
Yes, they do. The day after I got back from my trip to Mexico, my head was back in the game. I got up and ran 5 miles with my sis. Then went to play volleyball later that afternoon and ended up tearing a ligament in my knee (simply landed wrong when I dove). Long story short - took 3 months for it to heal. I did go to a doctor, had an MRI and everything. It simply needed time. And what did I do? More or less sat on my butt. I "only" gained 3 pounds in those 3 months, but I lost a LOT of strength, so I'm sure I lost muscle and gained more than 3 pounds of fat. I know it stinks, but please don't make the same mistake I did (It sounds like you aren't, but it may be easy to fall into). I really regret using it an excuse to do nothing. It's only one part of your body that is injured (yes, a major one), so don't do anything you shouldn't, but your arms, shoulders, back and abs are NOT injured, so make sure you keep working them. I promise you will feel so much better about yourself!
Keep at it! You won't regret it! Best of luck!0
