the easiest way to clean yourself out of toxins and certainly most cost effective, is what i am following on the advice of my naturopath. no caffeine, no sugars, no alcohol, no white starches and eliminate wheat if possible. start your day with a mug of warm lemon water (fresh lemon) this helps eliminate the toxins. Also, castor oil, rub it on your belly at night and apply a heating pad, this also helps to eliminate toxins from your lymphnodes. its alot easier than you think. and the rule of thumb for my meals is 75% vegees and 25% protein for lunch and dinner. my breakfast consists of a homemade muslix

Please share your opinions and advice!

You won't like my advice. "Cleanse" and "Detox" products are 100% bull**** and a waste of your time, effort, and money.

but you have to rub your head while rubbing your tummy, or it does not work, right?

    isn't muslix cough medicine?

The next time you see your naturopath, please do me a favor and ask him/her for a short list of the top three toxins that are eliminated using this diet/castor oil plan. If you can't get three, see if you can get the name of one. Just one.

(That's what I've been searching for for so very long and you may have the connections necessary to finally end my quest. Please, please do this for me. Nay, not just for me, but for the children. Do this for the children.)

i think you are looking more for a "flushing out" of toxins not detox... since your body naturally detoxes itself as the 500 ppl have pointed out

you could go to your local health food store and buy a colon cleanse product or a liver cleansing product to get out toxins and food leftover in your colon/intestines, which is what i will be doing...

if you do a colon cleanse you will prob lose 5-10 pounds but some of this will be water weight so stay hydrated if you do this!!

after a colon cleanse i feel amazing and i notice a huge burst of energy so this is my recommended "detox" good luck

your colon does not cleanse itself when you take a dump????

A colon cleanse will give you an explosion all right, but I do not think it will be of energy….

so your body detoxes naturally, but your colon does not? In to find out how the colon is not a part of the body...
  • BEWARE of posting on this site about detoxes and the like. While I do agree with doing something that is sustainable long-term for weight loss, there are a lot of bullies here who jump for the chance to be rude and hateful. You will quickly see it's the same people who attack on all these threads. And, some admit that they have never even done one, whether for weight loss, or to kill an addiction. They could give constructive criticism, but choose to be nasty instead.

    LOLwut?

Where was the rude and hateful to which you're referring?

Your post seems more rude and hateful than any other in this thread so far...

...but discernment for detox scams and discernment for hypocrisy are likely the same ability.

If she sticks around long enough she will see what I am talking about. If it was tough love, I would not even say anything. My husband has been on here for a long time, and we have seen these threads and such behavior for a long time. As for long term success, I said I agree with doing something that is long term and sustainable... referring to a diet of healthy food and regular exercise. In that sense I do agree with everyone, but I don't agree with how many try to get the point across. Being rude, snarky, and sarcastic ect. Would these same people treat someone face to face in such a manner?

So your post was preemptive for the bullying that you are certain is to come? And in your initial post, you called a group of people bullies, rude, hateful, and nasty...and implied that it was people who had already posted in this thread...

...but these unnamed "bullies" are the rude ones (or *will be*) and not you for your own rude post?

Interesting perspective you have of what is and is not rude.

From what I've seen in the news, these detoxes generally don't end well. Best to play it safe. Or perhaps lock up the lawn ornaments...

The logic hurts my head a little bit.

Enters thread, calls people rude and hateful bullies. Later says that the bullies haven't actually bullied yet but just in case they show it's best to make a statement as if they have already posted.

The original post asked for opinions on doing a cleanse. This is a public forum, if you ask for an opinion, don't be surprised when people are brutally honest. If you want for people to be nice, and tiptoe around so as not to hurt anyones feelings, don't post questions here! The vast majority view cleanses as fads or gimmicks and have clearly stated so. The fact of the matter is there is NO scientific evidence to support cleanse or detox diets, none.

Not so much preemptive. I am just sick of seeing thread after thread being sharked. Look back through the year and tell me you don't see it. I was talking to her, warning her. There are so many cool peeps on here who are sincere in their inquiries and questions. Sucks when you see people making fun of them.

the easiest way to clean yourself out of toxins and certainly most cost effective, is what i am following on the advice of my naturopath. no caffeine, no sugars, no alcohol, no white starches and eliminate wheat if possible. start your day with a mug of warm lemon water (fresh lemon) this helps eliminate the toxins. Can you or your naturopath list the toxins these procedures remove from your body that the body does not do naturally?

So you agree that detoxes are not long term and sustainable and therefore do not really benefit weight loss attempts at all?

You're in this thread calling people names...people who are responding to OP's question. While I don't know OP, I suspect she doesn't need you white-knighting on her behalf...especially since you're in here decrying behavior that hasn't even happened in this thread...all while calling other people names.

It's like in the movie Arlington Road. You think you're in this thread accomplishing good, but you're actually the only one in here doing the bad thing you're railing against.

Especially as a college student, DON'T spend your money on crap like this which has no scientific studies to back that they detoxify anything out of the body.

As a fellow college student, I feel like I can relate to OP. So, here's my advice:

Don't do it. Cleanses are useless, and detox belongs in the long forgotten pile of words next to twerk.

Spend your money on something useful....like those great college textbooks.

But what about all of those cleanses/detoxes in the nutrition textbooks?! Oh, wait...
