Cheat days?

I'm going to a New Year's Eve party tomorrow, and I'm debating whether or not to have a "cheat day", meaning that I'll allow myself to eat the pasta/cake/various other party food.

I've been pretty good with my diet for a while, and I'm wondering whether it's ok to "let my hair down" for one night or will that completely derail my efforts up to this point?

Thanks in advance!

Brittany:)

One cheat day won't derail your efforts! I have cheat meals all the time (...every day...) but moderation is the key! Good luck,,

I encourage cheat days. In moderation of course.

One day won't make or break you. Do what you want.

As long as you choose NOT to let it derail you (basically keeping good habits most of the time), you should be fine.

I fully intend on eating and drinking whatever I want at night... I'm 21, I work hard and i deserve to partly hard, too! Just gonna eat light leading up to the party I'm going to and then do whatever feels right

Exactly. Nothing can derail you unless you let it.
Sometimes I go over my calorie goal, and that's okay. I just log it to the best of my ability and carry on. One day is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

I cheated on Christmas Eve, Christmas day, and had McDonald's and Taco Bell this past week. Still down a pound. But I have no problem starting back the next day or even working a not so healthy meal into my calories.

I don't like calling them "cheat days", but when I want some more freedom, I try to eat my maintenance calories. I still log, even if I think it's not very accurate, and try to stay pretty close to my maintenance calorie budget to avoid weight gain. You can certainly eat more than your maintenance calories, but be prepared for the consequences of undoing your deficit.
