Where do I start??

I'm 18, 5'5 and around 260lbs. I'm looking to be around 160 around this time next year. I've been overweight for the majority of my life. I'm embarrased! I don't know where to begin. What are the key things that will help me shed the pounds?! I'm looking to start a gym once I get back to school in a few weeks. Does anyone have any tips for me to help me get started??
