Any advice?
It can be a good TOOL for some people who cannot lose weight any other way, but it is not a miracle cure. You still have to change your lifestyle PERMANENTLY, by creating healthier eating and exercise habits. It won't do it for you. I have known people who have done well with it, and I have known those who lost some weight initially, then gained it back plus more.
Any surgery also has its risk. I would suggest doing some research online for complications for your particular surgery.
I have also known some people who their doctor required that they lose x amount before he would do the surgery. Once they lost the weight, they realized that they could do it without surgery, and went on to becoming healthier on their own.
ETA I have a friend on my FL who hit her 2 year anniversary here today. She has lost 214 lbs so far, and not too far from her goal weight. She did it with diet and exercise. No surgery. Just lots of dedication.0 -
If it's to save you life literally, then fine. However, it's not an assurance that the person will be content with themselves even if they lose weight.
