Selecting an end goal.

When I started losing weight, my goal weight was an arbitrary number. However, now that I have a healthy BMI and I'm progressing towards my last few kgs, I was wondering how to choose my goal weight. I know it's different for different people, but how did you decide upon your goal weight?
My current goal weight leaves me with a BMI of about 21.9. I also understand that this is a very rough estimate so I'm also aiming to cut body fat levels and measurements.

Once I hit my goal weight, I abandoned the scale and focused on the mirror. Now I just use the scale to track progress, without a set weight in mind.0

I did weight myself and measure myself to track progress but I never had a goal weight. I just wanted to look good and fit. That was my goal. And as I move along that goal changes cos I progress more and more and my goal is to look better and better.
I think setting a weight goal is kinda silly. Why do you diet and work out? To look good, right? And to feel good. Not to weight any particular weight. What if you could stay overweight but be healthy and still look good. Would you still wanted to lose weight? I doubt it. So why even set a weight goal? Setting a look goal makes more sense to me.0 -
I've changed mine three times already, and will probably bump it down again. The number doesn't really matter. When I get to where I want to be, that's the number I'll work with in maintenance.0

Personally, i track body fat more than I track weight. Body composition determines looks more than weight. This is why people can gain weight but have a leaner and tighter body.0

Yeah - same as others. Once I got to around my arbitrarily set goal weight, I went with vanity goals -- trying to lose the last of the belly pooch. Not so concerned about the weight on the scale anymore - more focused on the mirror and body composition.0

I have a weight goal, but my bigger aims involve progress with my running. I have an end goal for weight, but not for athletic progress. And I hope that each time I achieve one running goal, I'll set a new one. No "now I'm done" for me.0

I have some old jeans I use. I still don't know exactly how many pounds that will be, but at least I have an idea of inches where I like my body best. Do you have any way of knowing the approximate inches you liked on you? I wouldn't go by size or measurements from exterior sources, btw. At least not on the low ends! My goal size isn't teeny at all, but I know I like it and it includes a good BF% for me (if I lift).0
