Not really sure where to start....?

So I've done dieting before. I started in January last year, ended up losing about 50 pounds by August and felt great. But life happened and I wasn't able to go to the gym so I tried workout videos like insanity and stuck with it for a month before I quit. Then my eating went down the drain and I gained maybe 10-20 pounds by may. I moved and gained it all back :(. And here I am trying to lose it again but sustainably for the long run. I don't care how fast I lose it unlike last year, I just want to be happy and feel confident. I'm just not sure where to start now. I've been trying to for the last 2 months and I have no idea what to do. I'm not sure how much I should be eating to lose, or what I should eat. I'm 5'3, about 189 pounds, I'm 18, female. And a vegeterian. I tried starting today again and basically did fine until dinner and over ate and have the "ill start tomorrow excuse" but Im trying to find healthy vegeterian meals but not sure what, and I'm just really confused where to start. Any tips??

I think it's important to log everything. Then you can see on a daily basis what changes you need to make and maybe identify your "overeating" triggers.

Anyway have a read of the link I posted above I think it will help.

It would help you if you logged everything you ate, your only cheating yourself otherwise. I slipped up yesterday, my first day and have logged it and I feel better for it because they are not invisible calories and they will sabotage things if we keep doing it.
    Keep going and good luck:smile:

First...you have to log EVERYTHING! Even if you are way over, log it. If you find you don't have enough calories left for dinner, maybe reevaluate your calorie goal. Set some calories aside for a snack after dinner. I cannot tell you how many times I have done the ' I just cheated....might as well continue eating like crap all day because the day is already ruined'. You cannot think of this as a 'diet' that you can go on and off, it is just your new way of living.

    I agree - log it.

I started, without a plan. I had read how the most successful long term weight loss people had a few things in common - regardless of plan. Logging was one of them. SOOOO, I decided to start logging. Then when I looked at what I logged I started making changes. Then later when it wasn't working, I started making more changes to increase fullness. Then later when that wasn't working I started making changes to relax into something I could sustain. and so forth. (rinse and repeat LOL)

Anyway, log honestly, and don't expect perfection. Progress is far better than perfection.

I know how you feel!! Im 5"3 and started out about 186 and even gained while being on here up to 192....Whats your calorie goal? Do you pre plan ahead of time? Like tonight im making home made tacos usually very high in calories so I pre logged it to see where I wont go over with the other things I eat. Since dinners my biggest meal of the day and if I know it has alot of calories I pre log it first...So try to pre log you biggest meal first and work around that? Also if you know you are going to over eat for that day either work out that day or the day right after to help not gain anything extra

Pay attention to what this wise Lady posted....

My advice is to get your "mind right" you have to be mentally ready and accepting of the changes that you want to make. For me, mental preparation is the most important part! Good luck!!!
  • Agreed w/ logging everything. Yesterday I slipped and looking back at what I ate and what my weight would be.. It just isn't worth it.. It wasn't that good. I love the you will weigh feature.. Ut is really eye opening and gives you an attainable goal
