Ok so whats a healthy weightloss per week? I weighed 222.5 on Christmas and this morning I weighed 216.5. That's 6 pounds in one week. I have been eating right and an appropriate amount (approximately a 300-500calorie deficit) and exercising. Im happy to be loosing weight but want to do it healthily. So I guess what im asking is should I be concerned about how much im losing?

It's not uncommon to have a big drop in the first week or two. There are others who could give you the science behind it, but it is a shift in water weight, and doesn't represent actual fat or muscle loss. It is considered appropriate to lose 0.5-2lb per week. You are doing just fine, but expect that the losses will be lower in future, and you may have occasional gains. It is the final results and overall trends that you need to be most concerned about.0

depends upon when you started dieting... if this was your first week, a good portion of your weightloss is water. Also, did you weigh yourself the same time wearing the same clothing? You will weigh more at night than in the morning. You will weigh more if you weigh with your shoes on. So many variables. Try to be consistent with next week's weighin..... do it the same time wearing the same clothing and see where you are. My first week is always a big number followed by a very small one by week two.... tapering off by week three....fluctuations in the scale will happen regularily. That is why I don't weigh myself. I let my clothes do the talking.0

As other people have said, many people experience a large drop in the first week to a month due to a loss of water and glycogen weight. This is due to several factors, such as sodium reduction, carbohydrate reduction, and just the normal fluctuations of the body.0

Enjoy it while it last because it will soon drop to a reasonnable rate of 1-2 pounds per week if you`re doing this right. Started December 1st at 215, went down to 206 in 10 days eating 1800 cal and exercising 30 min/day, then stalled there. Screwed up with the festivities so I am back at 213, but just to show that a big drop is normal at first. Water weight mostly.0

This is completely normal. Is 222 your starting weight? My starting weight was 215, and I had a 5 lb loss my first week of tracking my food and setting a calorie limit.
Yes, a 1 to 2 lb loss is ideal, but we are not all the same, and some are going to lose faster than others. I lost an average of 3 lbs per week my entire journey and it did not slow down until after I hit maintenance. I was eating about 1400 to 1500 calories a day on average so I was by no means starving.
If you are like me, count yourself blessed!
Best of luck - you are going to love the new you.0 -
Exactly this....don't stress over the week to week weight but look at the overall picture. It's not uncommon to have a big drop in the first week or two. There are others who could give you the science behind it, but it is a shift in water weight, and doesn't represent actual fat or muscle loss. It is considered appropriate to lose 0.5-2lb per week.
