This was my homework for my metabolic class and I found it really neat and watned to share with you. I am still working on mine, but as soon as I find out my own mantra I will post it !
As we start the new year I want you to all think of a totem that will be your mantra for the year.... How do you do this I hear you ask??? Well keep reading...
1) write down 3-5 of your greatest heroes. These can be historical, fictional, or real people who you know & love...
2) for each of your heroes write down the things that make them so inspiring to you... Eg brave, kind, loving, strong resilient.....
3) look over this list & pick out 3 words that resonate with you
4) now imagine you are a fly on the wall of your funeral listening to your eulogy. What would you want people to say about you? What are the words you want people to use to describe you? Write them down. Choose 3 or 4 that are most powerful to you & add those words to your 3 words you have already chosen.
5) now imagine you are on your death bed. You know you are going to die. From this place looking back on your life think about what your legacy has been. Write down what you would want or hope your legacy might be. Eg "on my death bed I want to look back & know I inspired people to follow their dreams, that I was a teacher & steadfast friend." From this tale out some of the most emotional words like "inspire", "teach", "friend". Add these to your list
6) now go through your list of words that you have & contemplate them. You may want to choose the ONE that is most powerful to you. Or it could be a new word that encapsulates the essence of the words you have. Settle on one word only it should give you "goosebumps"
It should be a word that when you think about it immediately gets you going!!! If you have this word then that is your TOTEM. Use it whenever you need it, let it help you be successful & drive you through 2014.
Mine for the year .....

Mine is "strong."
The people I admire are: elegant, sharp, and sparkly
My eulogy: loyal, sensitive, curious, spiritual
My deathbed looking back: determined, hard-working, impactful, truthful, honest, delightful
I think all of these encompass "strong" because you have to be strong to be any of these other things0 -
Great assignment. I am going to go work on it. Thanks!0
