I am looking into getting a heart rate monitor and wanted to know if someine could explain exactly what I should be looking for and what the various monitors do. I have a very low resting heart rate and wanted to know what my good fat and calorie burning rate would be so I am working at my full most beneficial potential. I have seen the wrist and the chest types. Which is prefered? I honestly dont want to invest too much money in it because I want to make sure it is something I willl definitely use. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Polar FT7, which I bought a year ago and I love it. It's the chest strap that transmits to the watch. It also transmits to a lot of treadmills, so you get your HR right on the display without having to hold on. I like to have it to see my highs and lows while running and cycling. I paid under $100 for it at the big yellow price tag and I just saw it on sale for less than that.0

Thanks for the response...Does it have a way of letting you know when you are in your zone or do you have to figure it out and then just keep an eye one it. I guess I am not understanding how they really work. I have never even seen one before live and in person so forgive me if the question sounds elementary. I have just been reading about them and want to understand exactly what I am looking for in the device. I will research the Polar FT7. Thank you.0
