Has anyone tried the 5:2 diet
Does it work

    It works if you eat at maintenance or very slightly below it on the 5 days you are supposed to. If you don't track your calories and pig out, you could be easily wiping out your deficit achieved on the 2 fasting days.

    I tried it and stopped because it was making me think all eating disordery.

    I don't know what your goal is and what kind of result you are looking for but I have been on IF for over 6 months now. While the number on the scale didn't drop but my body fat has significantly decreased. I guess that is working to some degree. :)

    I did this several months last year and was successful at losing weight. More successful than I am now at a more conventional calorie deificit. I thought I would psychologically be able to tolerate occasional extreme deprivation better than low level constant deprivation but I was wrong about that.

    I do think it's a great way to build in a calorie deficit if you don't mind occasional stringent deprivation. I did learn a lot while doing 5:2. I can now distinguish between real physical hunger and cravings. I also know that hunger, while unpleasant, doesn't kill me or stop me from functioning in my job.
