Hi all,

I had ACL reconstruction on my knee on July 6th and it has been really hard to watch my fitness level go down during my recovery. I can't run until November the saddest part, no soccer until May/June of 2011!!

Have you had to recover from a difficult injury/surgery?? What kept you motivated through the pain and setbacks?

Thanks!

  • omgosh, i am right there with you! torn Achilles tendon... it's been miserable!!! i'm holding out hope i can be cleared to go back to playing in october, but the dr's say it's a year-long recovery, and i might cry if i can't play by the fall...
the pain was particularly hard to push thru, because of the fear of re-injuring or delaying recovery, but it has been an adventure. i was jogging 4 months after surgery - maybe a little sooner than my dr would have allowed, but the PT's felt i was ready, and it made all the difference. i'm going to do a 5K in a couple of months, and then i will feel like i can go back to training.

    remember, eye on the prize!
